Porcelain insulators, also called ceramic insulators, are made from Clay, Quartz or Alumina and Feldspar, and are covered with a smooth glaze to shed water. The function of porcelain insulators is to provide insulation in electrical circuits by physically separating the conductors as well as preventing current flow between them. It can also provide mechnical support for conductors.
