TYPES OF GLASS INSULATORS
2023-04-04 22:55Suspension glass insulators type are used for isolating and fixing the wires to the overhead power lines, power distribution facilities and substations of AC voltage over 1000 V and a frequency up to 100 Hz. Operated at an ambient temperature of -60 to +50oC.
The space under ribs and their height prevent partial discharges between contiguous standouts in case of very heavy pollution. Glass insulators are applied in the industrial, agricultural and coastal areas.
Standard glass insulators
Suspension glass insulators are generally made of insulated tempered glass parts and metal accessories (such as steel feet, iron caps, flanges, etc.) glued with glue or mechanically clamped. Suspension glass insulators mainly play the role of insulating and fixing wires in high-voltage overhead transmission and distribution lines. Suspension glass insulators are usually assembled into insulator strings for use on lines of different voltage levels.
Fog type glass insulator.
Fog type insulator with long leakage distance are used in polluted areas, close to the ocean, or in industrial environments.
Ground wire insulators
Ground wire insulators are usually installed in the ground wire protection device in the transmission line. The ground wire insulator usually consists of two parts, the insulator, and the protective gap. When the line is in normal operation, the ground wire insulator can protect the ground wire and insulate the ground wire from the iron tower. If there is an overvoltage on the ground wire, the protective gap of the ground wire insulator can realize conduction between the ground wire and the iron tower through discharge, so as to play various protective functions.
Open profile or Aerodynamic insulators
Due to their completely flat dielectric profile, this type of insulator is highly recommended for desert areas because the absence of ribs helps to reduce the accumulation of residues, particularly on the inner surface of the dielectric. At the same time, its shape permits regular and constant airflow which enables the wind to perform a self-cleaning process.
These can also be used in areas of critical industrial or mixed pollution (desert and industrial pollution).
