Cable Lugs Description

The cable lugs are tubular type and suitable for jointing to insulated cables and stranded conductors by use of compression tools. The clamps correctly fit the cable or conductor that is intended for use.

The lug comprises a tube and a straight palm. The palm has a hole for making the connection between the cable and apparatus by means of a bolt or stud. The faces on each side of the palm are sufficiently parallel and flat to provide a suitable contact surface.

The lug has a current rating at least equal to that of the cable to be used with a mechanical breaking load not less than 60% of that of the conductor to be used with. All parts of the cables including the stud hole go through deburring and polishing operations to eliminate all sharp edges.

Copper tubular compression lugs

The copper lugs are made from oxygen-free high-purity copper that is immune to hydrogen embrittlement and suitable for use in a high electrical and thermal conductivity requirement in accordance with BS EN 12600. 

The Cu lugs are easily joined with all welding and brazing methods and are suitable for manufacturing processes requiring extreme deformability. The chemical, physical, electrical/thermal and jointing, and machinability characteristics of the copper tube.

Tinned aluminum tubular compression lugs

The inner aluminum tubular compression lugs are manufactured from forged high purity electrolytic EC grade Aluminum 99.5% tubes in accordance with DIN 46329 and have a tin coating with a minimum tin coating thickness of 150μm.

The tinned aluminum tubular compression lugs are suitable for connecting to aluminum and copper bus-bars/terminations types of conductors, stranded copper, and aluminum cables, stranded aluminum conductors, ACSR, and AAAC.

Bi-metal tubular compression lugs

The bi-metal lugs are constructed from forged circular copper palm, friction welded to an Aluminum circular barrel in accordance with ISO 25239, thus achieving transition aluminum-copper bi-metal terminals. The bi-metal lugs are manufactured in shape and suitable for connecting the stranded aluminum conductors to copper bus-bar or equipment with copper terminal studs.

Al compression lugs

The material of the Al lug is Aluminum, compression type. The lug is suitable for Aluminum conductors.

Packing for lugs. 

The compression lugs are packed in seaworthy cartons on the pallet with waterproof plastic film to avoid damage during transportation and storage.
